Convenient maintenance tasks

Every vehicle has maintenance steps, and your Fiesta is no exception. While your highly-rated engine continues to hum, check out some of these routine maintenance tasks that might need to be performed:

The biggest mechanical change came in the form of advanced 1.4 and 1.6-liter TDCi diesels, produced in collaboration with French manufacturers Peugeot and Citroen. Offering refinement and excellent economy, these gutsy engines were far from the naturally aspirated 1.8-liter diesel that could trace its roots back to 1983 and, until this point, was the only diesel choice.

Step aboard the immaculate 2005 LX model, and its clear that Ford was trying to make the car bigger. The vertical dashboard has a solid look and feel, while the control panel is shared with the Focus.

In motion, you immediately notice the refinement climb over its predecessor, while the ride is more composed. However, the engines have to work a little harder to overcome the extra weight, while handling isnt as sharp. Still, for many buyers, this was a price worth paying for increased practicality, comfort, and superior opportunity.

What is the Ford Fiesta Mk 5?
This model marked the moment when the long-standing Fiesta supermini got its mojo back. It followed a series of dull, uninspiring, and generally underwhelming iterations that failed to perpetuate the spirit of the genre-defining Mk 1 (1977). Simple, tough, and practical, the Fiesta Mk 5 hit the spot and the jackpot in the mass market where others (Volkswagen Polo, Renault 5) just failed to make a mark.

It was the proverbial back-to-basics move. The modern, unflinching mini-Focus styling, yet modern, but the simple, clearly laid out, and easy-to-use interior, as well as the lively yet economical engine lineup, signaled it meant business. And it really proved to be quite fun to drive, too.

As superminis go, the Fiesta has always been one of the best participants, and although it may never have been one of the most fashionable choices (except, perhaps, in XR2 form), it is one of the most underrated.
Its a straightforward range to choose from, without a multitude of marginally different variants or a range of trim lines. Among the engines, the Peugeot-Citroën diesels are strong and economical, although the 1.6 TDCi offers a worthy gain over the robust and powerful 1.4 TDCi, at least for most everyday duties. However, its the better option if you plan to do extensive highway mileage. Drivers doing small to medium annual miles will be better off financially with one of the cheaper petrol versions. The little 1.25 is a more than adequate daily solution (avoid the old Endura 1.3).

Entry-level specifications (LX, Finesse, or Studio for later versions) are rather basic, some even without front electric windows, let alone air conditioning, but the Climate Pack option, including the Quickclear windshield, proved popular. Many Zetec and Style models will have this feature. All models from 2005 onwards have a higher level of equipment, although youll need to go to a Ghia for the full mini-luxury experience, with leather.

The Fiesta Mk 5 has sufficiently responsive, well-weighted steering and supple suspension to create a fun and enjoyable drive, even in its more modest iterations. The flexibility of its engines and the five-speed manual gearbox suggest that indeed, who needs anything more exciting?

Replace the battery

  •     Recharge the air conditioning unit
  •     Bleed the brake lines
  •     Replace the bulbs

A new battery prevents your Fiesta from dying on the roadside or in a parking lot. The lead-acid battery in your car is used to power the starter and any other electrical devices you want to turn on while the engine is off. After a few years, your batterys reserve capacity may be reduced. Expect the battery to wear out to unusable levels in three to five years. A new battery is easy to replace with an adjustable wrench, safety gear, and a new battery from Piese-Ford.ro.

Restore cold airflow in your Fiesta with some air conditioning parts. From a whole condenser to a patch kit, our list of AC parts helps you overcome any obstacle to fresh, cold air inside.

Bleeding the brake lines is essential to prevent water buildup in the brake fluid. Water and contaminants have a lower freezing point than brake fluid, which can cause ice to block your lines and prevent the vehicle from operating. Inspect your brake lines for signs of leaks before acquiring new brake fluid and a new hose.

Finally, a bulb replacement project is an easy way to restore safe visibility around the Fiesta Mk5. Get a bulb designed for your cars make, model, and year before enjoying an easy replacement task.
